The meetings addressed the current state and future steps to be taken in various fields, including education, trade, investments, industry, science, technology and innovation, agriculture, defense industry, technical cooperation, transportation, health, and tourism.
In addition, significant assessments were made-particularly in the field of education-regarding the further strengthening of bilateral relations and the diversification of cooperation based on mutual understanding.
Minister Tekin highlighted the education parameters and current status of education in Türkiye, stating that Türkiye is open to cooperation with Sri Lanka in the field of education and that there is a strong will to develop sustainable projects aligned with common goals.
Minister Tekin pointed out that there are many potential sectors that could contribute to the development of relations between the two countries and emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation with Sri Lanka in the field of science and technology.
Minister Tekin stated that Sri Lanka has taken significant steps in this field, and that Türkiye has made considerable advances in recent years in areas such as unmanned aerial vehicles, software, computer games, and domestically produced electric cars. He noted that relevant sectors could provide guidance on technology transfer and the development of joint technologies within this framework.
Minister Tekin, emphasizing the significance of Türkiye's millennia-old state tradition in its relations with cooperating countries, stated, "Our priority is to strengthen the countries with which we establish relations and to promote peace worldwide." He added that, in this regard, Türkiye and our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's role as mediators in international conflicts has come to the forefront.
Minister Tekin stated, "As Türkiye, which believes that the world is greater than five and advocates for a fairer distribution of global responsibilities and wealth, we are taking steps to strengthen our relations with all countries."
Minister Tekin emphasized that the cooperation with Sri Lanka to be established in this context should be strong not only politically and economically but also in terms of friendship and alliance.
Meeting with Sri Lankan Students Studying in Türkiye
On the second day of his visit, Minister Tekin paid a visit to the Turkish Embassy in Colombo and was briefed by Ambassador Semih Lütfü Turgut on the activities carried out in Sri Lanka.
During his visit, Minister Tekin also met with Sri Lankan students studying in Türkiye and engaged in conversation with them.
