MINISTER TEKİN ATTENDS THE PROGRAM HELD AT THE 6TH INTERNATIONAL TOURISM AND TRAVEL FAIR

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin attended the program held at the "TravelExpo Ankara 6th International Tourism and Travel Fair" at ATO Congresium.

Minister Tekin said that Ankara's touristic valueswere not highlighted and local governments should take responsibility on that matter.
 
Underlining that the connection between universities, public institutions and society in Türkiye should be strengthened, Tekin said that the solution suggestions produced by academics to solve social problems are not taken into consideration sufficiently by the relevant public institutions and segments, or sufficient information and support are not requested from academics. Minister Tekin, who suggested that especially tourism faculties should be involved in this sense, said that tourism faculties tried to produce projects and contribute, but they became demoralized when they could not encounter the public authority that supported them.
 
Tekin emphasized that if these studies are carried out and the projects are developed, the academic and international publications that may emerge will contribute to the promotion of Türkiye.
 
"We will revise our curriculum"
Stating that they are planning changes in the curriculum, Tekin said that they want the curriculum to be used in solving problems that children may face in their daily lives. Noting that their aim is to make the curriculum suitable for the levels of the children, the Minister said that they will revise the curriculum in line with the effort to dilute the curriculum and incorporate the reference values of Turkish culture into these programs.
 
Expressing that they evaluate tourism and culture separately, the Minister noted that the concept of tourism culture should be created.
 
Referring to the importance of children having knowledge while traveling, the Minister stressed that they will include city culture, aesthetic culture, travel culture in the program and will take these concepts into consideration when revising the curriculum.
 
"We are open to work together with sector representatives on tourism"
Noting that they focused on how to take steps that would contribute to the tourism of Türkiye and to raise children accordingly, the Minister declared they are open to work together with sector representatives on this matter.  
 
Explaining that tourism vocational high schools operate within the scope of vocational technical Anatolian high schools, Tekin said that they are on the way to revise all vocational high schools in a way that will contribute to the sector. Underlining that they are making efforts to thematize all vocational high schools, sports high schools, fine arts high schools and tourism-related high schools, Minister Tekin announced he will share a program with the subtitle of 'gastronomy high school' which will include Anatolian dishes, mothers' recipes, Ottoman and Seljuk cuisine and practical information about kitchen service in the upcoming days. Stating that maturation institutes and public education centers can also create an application brand for gastronomy, Minister Tekin stressed that they are making efforts in this regard.
 
Tekin pointed out that a significant benefit can be provided to the sector through the organization of thematic vocational high schools with the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO).
 
Chairman of Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) Gürsel Baran presented the "100th Anniversary Special" award to Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin.
 
Minister Tekin later visited the stands in the fair area.
